Cultural Workshops

As an Education Center, SAMAHAN also offers cultural workshops that are mostly inter-active, comprised of lecture and demonstration.  

SAMAHAN dancers and musicians may also perform in addition to the workshop.  

Workshops generally offered:

Philippine Gong Music – the Kulintang   .  Tinikling 101 (popular amongst schools)  .   Demystifying the Philippine Muslim Dance and Music  

Angklung (Bamboo musical instrument)  .   Regional Diversity in the Philippines: Nation of Multiple People 

Popularization of Philippine Dance: The Bayanihan Effect  .   Brown Skin, White Minds: Fighting Colonial Mentality

Silung Sa Ganding – demonstrates the beauty and grace of a Maguindanaoan woman as she effortlessly moves like the swaying coconut trees in the wind and the gandingan gongs in a kulintang ensemble. Datu Wampa choreographed this dance as entertainment for festive occasions.
